Caching in The Itchin Valley

This is an area rich in wildlife alongside the River Itchen in Southampton. It is a lovely area, but the noise from the M27 takes away from the peace and quiet somewhat! As does the low flying aircraft taking of and landing at Southampton Airport lol. Having said that, we did enjoy a 3 hour walk and the two caches we found were cleverly hidden and fun to find. Surprising though, that there weren't more caches in the area.
Highlights of our day were a second find for Hollie, the discovery of a mud bath by Poppy dog!!!
And meeting some first time geocachers (and pointing them in the right direction for their first find)!

Matt also managed to get this gorgeous close up of a kestrel. So that made his day!

The Places We go...

These photos were taken just down the road from where we live. We would never have thought of going for a walk there and didn't know how picturesque it was. We were out for 2 hours that night and picked up 5 caches. Beats sitting indoors glued to the TV!
Every walk we go on now is somewhere new to us and there are hundreds of caches still to be found just in our area. Bring it on!!!

Clever hides

We have come across some clever ways of hiding caches over the last couple of months, but this is our favourite so far! The cache was screwed into the back of a bottle cap. Experienced cachers, I'm sure, will find this unremarkable. But we were impressed! This find went to Debs, Matt's girlfriend.
